Here’s a Question for You: Week 42

One of the things I most enjoy about traveling is talking about it. In this new weekly series, I’d like to pose some of the questions I’ve discussed with friends, family and fellow travelers over the years. I invite you to pull up your backpack, grab a handful of the local snack food and chime in with your comments and thoughts. Feel free to respond to others, but remember to play nice!

Here’s a Question for You:

I was in high school when I visited Gatlinburg, Tennessee, but it left such a nasty, negative impression that Id be perfectly content never to cross paths with it again. Our hotel room stunk, the city was absolutely packed with kitschy t-shirt shops, the restaurant tabletops were sticky and, worst of all, it was all set against the fantastic backdrop of the Smoky Mountains. No city of that caliber deserves to be so close to something that should be so beautiful. If I never visit Gatlinburg again, I will have lived a happy life.
