Explorer’s Scrapbook: Christ the Redeemer

I took this picture of the Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while riding a cable car. Having lived on a ship for two years now, I have had an incredible chance of seeing a lot of wonderful places. Christ the Redeemer’s meaningful architecture has always fascinated me. The statue is perfectly situated in Corcovado Mountain facing, and emphasizing, the magnificent coast of Rio de Janeiro. The inviting beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and the lovely lush greens surrounding the statue really highlight the attributes of the location. It really proves to be one of the “New Wonders of the World.” Seeing an enormous blessed statue of Christ reminds me that this beauty, although made by man, was definitely an idea of someone greater.
